“We cannot always build a future for our youth, but we can always build our youth for the future.”

Franklin D. Roosevelt

Our core values have shaped our curriculum and have been developed with the children of Prince Avenue Academy and Nursery at the forefront of our minds. We are focused on providing the children with the skills they will need to succeed with a smile in an ever-changing world.

The delivery of our curriculum is underpinned by four main drivers which, by the time they leave us, aim to support our students:

  • Communicate confidently

  • become Responsible

  • Aspire to be great

  • have a positive growth Mindset

Our CRAM Curriculum is underpinned by our Key Study Areas and Threshold Concepts. Children's development is further supported through the use of our Learning Powers and Pledges.

Our curriculum is designed to, while nurturing a life-long love of learning, to help learners revisit and build on existing knowledge as they progress through the school. We use ‘Key Concepts’ which run through each subject area which are revisited and built upon through retrieval practice which links schemata and is proven to enhance learning. Threshold concepts are then used to open up new ways of studying these areas.

For example: in Year Two, students study the Gunpowder Plot where they will look at key concepts such as society and significant individuals. In Year 5, when the curriculum is delivered through the Tudors topic, students will encounter society and significant individuals in different contexts with the aim of strengthening the learning.
