Pupil Premium

At Prince Avenue we believe that all pupils regardless of circumstances should be supported to excel at school. We have the highest aspirations for all of our pupils and are committed to do all that we can to enable success.

The pupil premium is additional funding for publicly funded schools in England to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils of all abilities and to close the gaps between them and their peers. The amount given to each school is determined by the number of pupils who are eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) and/or the number of children who have been looked after (in care) for 1 day or more. Any child who has been adopted from care or who has left care under a special guardianship order, a residence order or a child arrangement order will also be eligible for the Pupil Premium. As a school we are proud of our expenditure and its impact.

Details of our expenditure and its impact can be found in the reports below.

It is vitally important that you check and inform us immediately, if you are entitled to Income Based FSM, because it affects our school funding. We ask you to check your status on the link here: https://www.gov.uk/apply-free-school-meals

Once you have received a decision (usually within 24 hours), please inform us whether or not you are entitled to Income Based FSM and we will update our records accordingly.

There is a common error made among parents when talking about FSM. Firstly, all pupils up until the end of Year 2, are entitled to have a lunch free of charge at school. We provide this under the government’s Universal Free School Meals initiative. Once your child reaches Year 3, you will then need to pay for lunches. However, if you are entitled to Income Based Free School Meals, then you will not need to pay for lunches when your child reaches Year 3.
