The principal aim of RE is to engage pupils in systematic enquiry into significant human questions which religion and worldviews address, so that they can develop the understanding and skills needed to appreciate and appraise varied responses to these questions, as well as develop responses of their own.
We follow Southend-on-Sea’s Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education (RE). The syllabus has been reviewed and recommended by local teachers and is approved by members of Southend’s Standing Advisory Council for Religious Education (SACRE). This syllabus will enable teachers to introduce their students to the richness and diversity of faiths; not only as represented within the Borough of Southend, but within the United Kingdom and across the world.
